Afaik, there has been no game here that was limited to real time playing for most of the existence of BGA. Just now there seems to be one in development (not sure how far), so maybe there is more of a chance for this to happen at some point (given that the license is granted).

I find this particularly amusing because I recently watch this.

For those who don't want to watch:
let's modernize a
48:30
little bit shall we
48:31
number two is arguably the hot game
48:35
right now what do you think it is it's
48:41
one of two things I love that group
48:44
going we can't wait to see you tore to
48:48
pieces it's the mind
48:50
I don't even dislike the mind that much
48:57
in fact I think out of all three of us I
48:59
liked it the most but I play a lot of
49:02
little card games this is another little
49:05
card game it is not the game to end all
49:10
games
it's fun it's sort of clever it's
49:14
sort of bizarre it's a quirky little
49:16
thing but it is not revolutionary and it
49:20
seems to be getting that treatment yes
49:24
it's seen as as though it's rewriting
49:27
what's possible in gaming or are we
49:29
suddenly gonna have a wave as we did
49:31
with legacy of games in which you don't
49:34
communicate ...

the mind
50:00
is fine but again I think it's
50:02
definitely overrated
it's not rated that
50:04
highly to be honest it's 768 right now
50:07
and bgg but I think it's climbing it's
50:10
going to be available in a much wider
50:13
distribution but if it wins this appeal
50:15
then it's gonna sell a lot I assume and
50:18
people will talk about it even more
50:20
again nothing really against that it
50:22
just seems to be treated with a
50:23
reverence I I wouldn't assign to it

I love The Mind, but fail to see how it could possibly work on BGA. It's fundamentally based on body language and whatever "tells" you can get from sitting down at the same table as the other players - I don't see how it can work at all played online.

Of course you could easily be implemented according to the rules, but you'd have no basis on which to choose when to play other than basically guesswork and maybe some counting (which isn't really how you're supposed to play anyway). It would subtract any of the fun from the game.

What sort of body language are you doing when playing The Mind?? Pretty sure that‘s not along how you‘re supposed to play either.

Seeing how "interested" other players are in playing at each point. Eg. are they starting to "finger" a card, or look like they're about to reach for one? Or are they staring into space (subtly or overtly), assuming there's no way they'll be playing next. Not really sure how else you're supposed to be able to have any idea what's going on, and it makes the game very enjoyable for me at least :)

[To be clear, I didn't mean any "system" of "conventions" like "I only fold my arms when my next card is 10-15 away from the current one" - that kind of thing would absolutely destroy any fun for me even if technically legal! I just meant reading what people look like they're thinking about, as well as trying to communicate your own feelings to others, but again without "sinking" to anything explicit.]
