Should There Be A Reputation Penalty For AFKing Game Start?

This has happened to me a bunch of times recently. A 4+ player game is ready to start. All but one player clicks "start game". The other player is just gone, 3+ minutes and they don't click on start. Someone abadons, they kick that player, we try to start the game again, now someone ELSE is afk.

It sometimes was taking me 5 tries to actually start a game because someone was afk.

Suggestion: If you're waiting in the realtime queue and you're afk for 2+ minutes on game start, you get a small reputation penalty (say -1, more for repeat offenders).

Sometimes you wait for up to an hour for a game. You can't expect people to be sitting there watching that screen the entire time. There are methods already in place to address the issue.

I suggest non-premium members have no right to decline a game start, they don't even need to press OK. game start should be auto for them. And when they quit, double their penalty. This can punish non-premium members who use simple mode to rush into premium games, then ran away if they don't like the settings. (They pick settings they won't play in simple mode, then bargain after they get into the room. Extremely annoying.)

Not sure, what is the best solution, but the issue is real and quite annoying. Frequently starting a game takes many, many tries. Some "potential opponents" seems to always decline. Others "search for Accept button" for minutes. On top of that it is typical for the site to attempt to start the game with less than allowed number of opponents (presumably when an opponent quits at very specific time during game set up).

IMHO, the game launching is the only part of BGA user experience, which requires immediate and serious attention.

You should have your PC speaker on and listen for the game start sound. If I need to leave my PC for whatever reason, I quit any game queues first.

There's nothing wrong with tabbing away to another browser window. But you should be checking back every minute or two or have your PC speaker on.

Red thumbs are the adequate and sufficient solution for the notorious wrong-doer in that respect.
