Hi. I've been playing a while and was wondering if you could answer a question here. It's not anything one way or the other to me, but I'm curious. I'm familiar with the ELO scoring method. I understand the points award system, no problem. I'm wondering about the algorithm for the Cribbage game. Is it a completely random shuffle and deal game every time for possibility of good hand set up, and draw? When I click on the card on the deck to cut the deck, is there a preassigned card no matter what I click, or are each of the cards that are face down assigned a distinct value, and there is a chance of cutting one of the cards left in the deck?
I ask this not out of anything other than curiosity. I've only been a member for a couple of months. At one point, early on in, I made it to second place. Yes, that was fun, but actually, I enjoy meeting the folks online from around the world and playing a game with them. The game is secondary to meeting the community, as I am a shut in due to health, and this is a social outlet for me.
I have noticed that it seems that when I meet someone with a standing of 200 points or more, I very, very rarely beat them. I've played Cribbage for almost 50 years, and I know the hands cold, the combinations, etc. But when it comes to the hands drawn that a person gets who has a higher point value than I have, is there an consistently equal chance that I will get the better or worse hand? Whether the answer to that is yes or no, I still love the game here, and will keep playing. I have made many good friends here online. Thank you for answering my question.
