issues during maintenance

1. It would be great if we were warned in advance about maintenance which is likely to affect gameplay. (I can't take my turn at all in my tournament game at the moment, and would have gone online earlier if I had been warned.)

2. Game clocks should be frozen during major maintenance. This is especially important in tournament play.

This was an incident on our hosting provider side. No way to anticipate it. We switched to maintenance to manage the incident. Penalties will be removed as usual when there is a technical incident.

Running your clock down in a tournament is not the same as incurring penalties during the maintenance event. You may run out of time many hours later.

But thanks for clarifying that it was not scheduled maintenance.
