Blocking a player

Post by Zelda Smith »

There's a player that I detest playing Carcassonne with and he/she keeps trying to match up with me. Is there a way I can block them from matching up with me? Thanks for any help!

Give them a 'private' red thumb.

I have a sort of similar request. Not sure there is anything more I can do.

There is a player, who plays ALOT - which is fine, but I think they have over extended themselves in tournaments and can not make all their commitments. At any point in time, they are "Playing now at: 300-400 turn-based games" and their Reputation ranking is regularly below 20 with so many penalties. Don't get me wrong, they do play ALOT and often come in on some tournaments in the top 5 winner positions, but quite often this user is holding up MANY MANY games doing what they are doing. They are regularly kicked out of games for non-play and delay of game. I think it is almost humanly/physically impossible to maintain that level of daily play. Wonder if it is only one player, or a shared ID?

I have tried to bring this up to BGA mngt, but all I am directed to do is the 'red thumbs down, or block them' strategies. There is no further action to be taken. This player registers for so many games daily, I still end up in tournament games with them even though blocked. All I can think of BGA being able to do is possibly putting a limit on the number of turn based games a player can be involved in at the same time. I know there is the possibility that this may negatively impact other players, but I can't think of anything else to solve the issue with this one user.

Any thoughts - or ideas of who to ask to explore this situation, besides the thumbs down/block approach?
thanks

This post is in the wrong place here. For BGA related topics there are many BGA subforums, but certainly not the „non-bga / offtopic“ one.

The OPs issue totally and fairly is solved with the advice of the private red thumb, that‘s what they exist for.

@VonnaKat: This issue just was discussed in more detail here: https://boardgamearena.com/forum/viewto ... =3&t=24182

I have the same request and I think it is terrible that you can have a notion of people making private messages which is against the rules, but that you can't block people from writing you or joining your games, when you know they are cheating, being kingmakers or just despicable.
