Race for the Galaxy - Not acknowledging my turn? Help!

Post by starbar102 »

This is my first time playing Race in Arena mode, and my first time with the expansions, so maybe I'm just missing something.

But the game asked me to choose a phase to play. In the normal game, after you select your phase, your turn is done until everyone has selected a phase.

In this game, I've selected my phase, but I still get the spinning hour glass indicating I need to take my turn. If I go to another table it says "Are you sure you want to leave, it's your turn."

I don't know what else I'm supposed to do! Do I have to do something else with the expansions to deny using the prestige/search card or something? Any help/guidance would be appreciated!

In a 2p game each player selects 2 phases every turn. (The rulebook confusingly calls this the "advanced" 2p variant or something like that, but it's absolutely standard and I'd be surprised if 2p Arena settings didn't include it.)

Thank you! What a life saver. I guess I've never played with 2p before, so I didn't know that was a rule.

No problem!

It's also worth noting that in the 2p variant you are allowed to choose Develop or Settle for *both* your action choices - and if either player does, that phase is played twice that round, with the other player therefore also getting to build twice if willing and able (and getting the bonus or not each time depending on how many times they chose the action). Note that if both players choose one of those phases with just one of their 2 choices, the phase only happens once, with both players getting the bonus - just as in a 3/4p game.
