Seeking developer for Sea Shanties - a pirate themed grid-based area control game

Post by IgniteJam »

Hello!

I'm looking for a developer to assist with creating Sea Shanties on this platform. www.boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/296571

In Sea Shanties, players will compete to be the most renowned pirate to ever sail the Kanvus Sea. In doing so, players will sail across the dynamic map, inhabit loot-producing islands, pillage loot from other players using a ruthless sea battle mechanic, and complete objectives that all will sing about once Davy Jones takes his toll.

The game starts with 16-25 game tiles in a grid based on the amount of players. Each tile contains 4 smaller squares. After selecting a player to go first, players will take turns. On a players turn they will A.B.C. - Actions, then Bury, then Collect.

On a player's turn, they complete five actions from the pool of actions:
  • Sail - Move from one square to an adjacent square
  • Plunder - Remove crew tokens from your ship and place them on an island. Or recover them.
  • Abandon - Remove all crew tokens from a useless island and place them in the tavern.
  • Recruit - Recruit 1 crew token from Hunter's Tavern
  • Battle - Initiate a battle with another player in an adjacent tile.
After a player completes their actions, they will bury all Loot on their ship. Buried Loot cannot be pillaged. There are five loot types in the game: Fish, Iron, Grog, Gold, and Fear. Whoever has the most of each (and at least 5) will earn Renown (points) at the end of the game based on the rarity of the loot. (These points are Ballads)

Finally, after burying, players will collect 1 Loot from each island they control. This Loot goes directly onto the player's ship and can be pillaged. The next player's turn starts.

In the sea battles, players wage their crew tokens to steal loot from each other. The loser will lose loot equal to the difference between the two players. The winner gains Loot equal to the distance, but loses the same amount of crew tokens. Whoever wins the battle also gains notoriety in Fear.

At the beginning of the game, a certain amount of Lore cards (objectives) are randomly paired with Melody (reward) cards. Each pairing of these is called a "Verse." Three verses will be displayed. If a player completes any objective on a Lore card, they will gain 1 Renown and earn the paired Melody card, which are typically buffs that aid in the game.

Game play ends when either every Ballad has been claimed or every Verse is known. Players get 1 Renown for each island they control, 1 Renown for every Verse completed, and Renown for their Ballads. Whoever has the most Renown wins!

This is a quick overview of Sea Shanties. The game has a small amount of resource management, some great player interaction, and a ton of replayability. Let me know if you're interested in collaborating on this project!
