Real Time/no time limit games getting cancelled after a break - is that normal or is it a bug?

Post by truehobbit »

Today I played a real-time game of Barrage with no time limits with my husband and when we came back after a break of three or four hours, the game had been ended due to inactivity.
This is the second time that has happened, we had this before some time ago with another game, where we came back the next day to find it gone.

I had been under the impression that games without time limit can't be ended - you get a 'friends only' warning when you start one for that reason, don't you?

So I'm wondering whether that's a bug or an intended feature - and if so, how long you can pause before a game times out?

I'm not sure it's intended, but it's a known issue. The problem is that there are two types of "no time limit" games. The real-time "no time limit" games do expire after a few hours of no activity. The turn-based "no time limit" games take around 40 days of no activity to expire.

Ah, good to know - thanks, Shivaware! I guess we should play turn-based then, if we are not sure we can finish without a break. :)

I've heard that it's 4hrs of no activity for real time games and 30 days for turn based ones then the system closes the game automatically, but I'm not sure exactly whereabouts on this site/forums that I read it.

During the game, you can turn a real-time game into turn-based game too (from the 3 lines burger menu) - if everyone agrees.
