Rule of this website?

Post by gabe69velasquez »

Reporting ▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒

In order to have a pleasant and friendly playing community, Board Game Arena has a very strict policy against players that exhibit bad behavior.
If this player has violated a rule of this website, please notify us immediately:
Important: if the player you are reporting did not violate any rules of the website, we may punish you instead.

Can someone point me to the "rule of this website" so that I make sure I am not the one punished?
I searched in several places and was not able to find them.

At the very bottom of each page, there are links to the FAQ (which covers most of it), and the Terms of Use and the Terms of Services.

There is a sort of logic behind you, altough it was worded poorly.
It is mostly aimed at (purposely) false reporting.

If you report someone once, nothing will happen to you if they are deemed not guilty. However if they see a pattern that you are reporting many times, probably people whom you lost to in games, and that there is a pattern of intentionally false reporting, then BGA may take action.

Good god, I've studied 3 kinds of logic, and English is my native language, it's written exactly as I wanted it to be.
I think your problem it your translator is broken. I came here to check that the behavior I experienced is (not) violation
of the rules of this website, not to falsely report people. I know you didn't exactly say I was trying to falsely report
people, but your post is written so badly it looks like you are insinuating that I want to falsely report people.
I don't think BGA needed you to defend them with your interpretation of their intentions.
Voriki, What I was looking for with my post was exactly what Jest Phulin answered,
so rather than posting antagonistic speculation, maybe take a lesson from that.

Chill out - I think he was just saying the BGA website chunk of text being quoted was worded poorly, not your post!

No, what are you his mother, he said my sort of logic was poorly worded, it's all in one sentence.
He needs you to reinterpret what he wrote?
Then may be he should lay off the criticisms so they aren't misinterpreted in the first place.

What is the code of conduct?
*On Board Game Arena, you should not:
*Run out of time on the game clock.
*Leave a game in progress on purpose.
*Take an unnecessary and unreasonable amount of time at the end of game in an obvious losing position.
*Engage in Kingmaking: enabling another player to win on purpose while there is a better move to make for yourself.
*Give some piece of information about the current game situation that disturbs the normal game flow.
*Communicate with another player about the game privately (for example with an instant messenging app).
*Engage in provocation / triumphalism / defeatism... anything which is not fair play.
*Use an avatar that may be shocking or offensive to other players (no advertisement, no politics, ...)
Breaking these rules will affect your reputation.
What is absolutely forbidden?
On Board Game Arena, it is absolutely forbidden to:
*Insult other players in any manner.
*Create multiple accounts and play against oneself to boost one's ranking.
*Trolling, admin-bashing, moderator-bashing, empty critiques or defamation.
Please share your frustrations with your therapist rather than imposing them on strangers on the internet.
Breaking these rules can lead to the removal of your account and/or a ban from the website.

Hmmm, I apologize, but in my haste I seem to have made a heinous typo when I was editing my message.
I meant to word it "there is a sort of logic behing it", I don't know what made me type the word 'you'.

Now gabe69 should apologize to frogstar, since he interpreted voriki's typo correctly (which was quite obvious btw) and tried to explain that to gabe69. :-)

It was clear in context, even with the typo. That escalated way out of proportion to the perceived offense.

I agree that it was quite clear in the context. I find it very ironic that someone who professed their knowledge of logic and fluency in the English language could interpret otherwise :D
