Amend POLICY for trick taking card games

Post by JusterGame »

I am astonished that BoardGameArena has arranged that trick taking card games like Spades and Solo show the cards that have gone.

This is wholly inconsistent with the most fundamental of card playing rules - I fear that whilst the excellent site organisers understand all manner of games, they allow developers to not follow the ethics of trick taking card games.

It means that a fast skim-reader can look and see what's been played before they make their own play - and that's (in essence) cheating - but it is not against BGA rules.

In any game where a reference to the play to date can lead to deliberate decisions based on the data that are not consistent with the rules/ethics of the game, there should never be such display - OR table managers should be able to turn it off.

This cannot be applied in turn-based games for obvious reasons.
Even in real-time it doesn't help much: https://boardgamearena.com/forum/viewto ... 55#p130355
