Can't for the life of me find players

Post by KingSpooky93 »

I've been trying to play a handful of games the past two days, and haven't had a single player join the table for any of them. I hate to be that guy, but this is very frustrating. I want to play these games, that's why I'm here on BGA. But it feels like unless the game is extremely popular, there's no chance of getting into a game.

The games I've been trying to play are Gold West, Crusaders, and Downforce. Real-Time.

Is it just that BGA isn't popular? Not a lot of people use the site anymore? Or something else. These certainly aren't the most popular games in the world, but they're not extremely unpopular either. I just want to play games, and not the same popular ones over and over.

Anyway, I guess my point here is that I feel like something needs to change/improve as far as matchmaking and finding players, because right now, it feels impossible to play a number of games here on the site, which makes for a very frustrating experience. Especially after paying for Premium, it feels a little like I was ripped off.

Where was it stated that you would get more real time table after becoming premium ?
Otherwise, yeah. It's harder to find real-time players for less popular games. Feel free to post on the other forum thread ("how to improve real time matchmaking") constructive criticism about that.

You weren't ripped off. You only have FIVE friends here. If you want to find players for games you like, it's super important to ruthlessly friend people who play those games. Lately any time I load in I have 2-4 friends on who might play Obsession with me. My wife plays Beyond the Sun incessantly and she has made many friends in that game to play with.

I wonder if it would be possible for BGA to add a gentle friend reminder at the game end screen directed at both players who have just finished it, something like "YOU and OTHERPLAYER have both favorited this game! Why not send a friend request?" or similar, to generate more interaction and networking among players.

It may also be worth playing a few TB games of things you like, just to meet people who enjoy the game and might then be willing to schedule a RT game. I've had TB players ask me to play RT before.

And it's quite easy to find TB games of Downforce, at least.

For all but the most popular games turn based is much better for getting games
