Paiko: developer needed, or is there good abstract sample code to look at?

Post by Yamaraus »

Hello,
I'm the co-designer of Paiko, a 2 player abstract strategy game published by Catalyst in 2020. My husband was inspired by Avatar's nebulously defined Paisho game, and wanted a strategy game that encourages adapting your gameplay as the state of the board evolves, focusing on area control. The game can currently be played on the Garden Gate (soon to be made more accessible via their menu) and Tabletop Simulator, but I think it would get more exposure on BGA.

I can tell there are not enough devs to go around. Not sure if there's one interested in this. If not, is it possible to check out existing code for abstracts, maybe like chess (for capture and tile movement examples) or shogi (which I recall having some similar mechanics, ages back)? I haven't programmed in BGA before, but I can forget semicolons like a pro in C/C++/PHP. I just don't have buckets of time as basically a solo mom.

Thanks for any help.

Ah, the BGA Studio slides say there is example code of common games. Hopefully something handy there, once I get access. But if anyone has informed suggestions, still would be greatly handy.
