Best move ever (60 points+) or Bug?

Hey guys,

I just played a game of Ark Nova. How much I've been loving this game lately. I closed it off with 105 points when my opponent had 72 points and thought I might have a good shot at winning this, depending on his last move.

As it turns out, this last move nearly doubled his points and he went onto make an incredible combination of moves.

I can't help, but look at the replay slightly confused, however.

I'm his last move, he triggered Association. He chooses a conservation project and reals the points. Then the confusing bit happens, he then plays Animals, where he plays an eagle with Determination, which allows him to play Association again.

I'm not sure, why he was allowed to play Animals though after playing the first Association and the game doesn't really make this clear either.

Isn't it a map bonus action for supporting a conservation project?

It's the "Determination" reward for supporting a conservation project, which is only available for that map. The fact that they could then combo it with an Eagle giving another Determination for a 3rd turn in a row is fun, no doubt they spent a lot of the game setting that up.

Ah, of course. For some reason I got this completely mixed up. That meant I played a horrible last move myself then

For some reason, I thought this wasn't a Determination bonus of the map. Didn't even consider this bonus.

Can someone explain to me where this map bonus is shown? I don't have a physical copy of the game and when I look at the replay from the table, I can see the map, but I don't see anything that states this map has this bonus.

The conservation bonuses are show on the left side on the map.

The logs are somewhat minimalistic. They say what players have done, but they don't always say how (and when they do, it can be quite cryptic).

The biggest single turn point jump I've ever had was having a 2x token on A 5 power association. Having the Migration sponsor. In one turn I released a size 4 animal (5 conservation) + 1 from migration + 1 from donation and then released a size 3 animal (4 conservation) +1 migration. I could have donated a second time if I had the cash, but that was a 12, potentially 13 conservation play.
