Releasing Animals

Post by Panthergirl »

Is this something good to do towards the end of the game? Is it better to release high appeal animals or low? I'm trying to figure out if the net effect of releasing animals is worth it. Can someone explain to me like I'm five? :D

Conservation points are worth 3 appeal points.
Well, after 10 conservation points they are worth 3, but early on the track they are worth 2, but come with bonuses.
Just look at the points scoring track to convince yourself.

Even early in the game where you might lose out on appeal income, it still more than makes up for it in bonuses - you also get the enclosure back.

But at the end-game, you are right that you will lose a few points. If you have the choice, a base conservation project might well be worth more.

If you release an animal for 5 conservation and has 6 appeal. Then that's a net gain of (5 * 3) - 6 = 9 points.
Plus the bonus map cube

Worth noting some Animals are fantastic to release.
As you only lose the appeal on the card and not c.points or reputation or additional appeal from things like icons ability.

Also some maps it's great too, the observation tower will give you 2 appeal everything you flip, so they are more valuable on that map.

You always gain something (plus the map bonus from using a cube). But some situations you gain a lot more points.
