Questions about winning (possible bug)

Post by cigma »

In my last game of challengers https://boardgamearena.com/table?table=392458598 this happened:
I managed to get the first 3 trophies, worth 10 points. My opponent didn't have any points and gave up. I won the game, but wondered why the interface said: "Tie: The most trophies" (You can see it in the last line in the middle of the board):

If my opponent gives up, shouldn't I win the game, no matter how many trophies or points anyone of us has?

If the game results matter, shouldn't the points make the decision, not the number of trophies? I interpret the rules that winnig (without giving up) is decided by points, and trophies being the tie breaker only. Would I have "lost" if they had more trophies when they gave up, even if I had more points? (This could be exploited by a player who no longer sees a chance for winning in the late game.)

I am not sure if this is a bug and want to discuss it here. Nevertheless I opened a bug report: https://boardgamearena.com/bug?id=92277

Language is a source of misunderstanding. (Antoine de Saint-Exupery: The Little Prince) But it is also the source of understanding - it all depends on how you use it. :-)
