Having a little fun and an idea

Post by LizVanZanen »

(Suggestion at the bottom of the post)

I'm having a little fun in a potentially very annoying situation. My opponent in Jaipur left when the game was allmost over. I think he was annoyed because i used 5 min more than him. I got a few "." in the chat and one "......................".

I'm working at my computer for the rest of the day anyway so I've decided not to expel him. He can't play on another table until i expel him or he finishes the game. At least that's what I'm hoping for. I read somewhere that it won't give me a win if i expel him. So by doing this he deprives me of a raise to my rating. Well... That means he can't play for the rest of the day unless he finishes the game. If i really wanted to play I would be pissed right about now but life's too short for that. So...

GRAB A SMILE
and join me at table Table n°4450650

At present his time is -40 min. EDIT: -335 min

And now to my suggestion:

When a player leave the game for whatever reason, and his time reaches a certain point, let's say -10 or 15 min, would it be possible to automatically concede the game for that player? It's extremely annoying not to mention unfair to other players to deprive them of their fair win.

BGA FTW

cheers all! ;)

Re: Automatically kick players at -10 minute time

a) please change the subject of this post to something more meaningful
b) in some games it's impossible to tell who's winning, so awarding the win to the other player may be inappropriate. Plus, what do you do if there are *multiple* other players?
c) I personally would rather have an extra loss in one game than an extra quit-tag in everything (which, if you get enough of them, will make other people not want to play with you)
d) in some cases the quit is not intentional (network kicked out, computer crashed, house caught on fire - you know, life happens) - is it necessarily fair to penalize the quitter with both the quit counter AND an automatic loss?

that being said, an *infinite* timer is silly - forcibly removing a player at 10 minutes below is probably fair.
