Are there any guidelines and contraindications to consider when developing a game primarily for a single player?

Complex engines or AI simulations are not allowed. Automas or solitaires are fine.

If you are talking about games which support solo only...
Well, currently there are two (Thermopyles, Vault), but you can implement a new one.
