Rules problem with victory points

Is there rule limiting the number of victory points to 41 ??

I ask because i was f***ed by the game. Was at 40 VP, liberates an animal for 5+1 (migration), with the board action i choose to play a sponsor, pay 5, play "release of patents" (yes i was under 25 tickets) who should have given me 3 more VP and finally pay 12 for another VP due to association II.

But no - game stopped counting at 41. And of course, just due to this i lost my game ...

Does someone knows more about ???? Thanks !

Yes, there is such a rule, with maximum limits on both conservation and appeal.

Just look at the scoring board to see the limits, and yes it's real limits wanted by the designer.
