"Turn-based" games

Any reason why async play is called turn-based? Really confusing since BGA provides an option to play turn based games (as opposed to real-time games e.g. ready set bet, age of empires, etc.) in turn based mode, as if the normal way to play isn't in turn order. Made me think some people I was talking to were totally clueless/hopeless until I realized they were using BGA's terminology.

Completely agree, I started a thread about this some months back. Consensus seemed to be that there was slim to none chance of it being changed.
