People keep leaving tables the minute I join

I accept I can be a handful sometimes, but....that really doesn't come out on BGA much if at all. So while there is an obvious answer of "people don't like you" I'm highly suspicious that this isn't relevant to what I've experienced twice today.

I was trying to join tables of Piraten Kapern. Two player games. Real time quick.

The second I join an open table, the other player leaves the table and shows up at a new one. I join there, it repeats.

I did get a little dug in about this in return to perceived slight as my experience, and chased one through a great number of tables. The game logs are all the same, the minute I join they leave and show up at a new table. A dozen times maybe?

Eventually someone else joins the table and it starts.

I checked - neither of these players are someone I've ever played before.

I look at my profile - the only red flag is 4 time delays. 100% karma.

Huh.

Anyone got any ideas?

I just noticed this on two different Ginkgopolis tables. I was the only additional player beyond the host in these 4 or 5 player games. When I checked the player profiles, they both hadn't been online for hours.

I tried it once more, with both - so 4 times this has happened, and same effect. As soon as I join, the table gets nuked and a new one auto-creates with the same host who hasn't been online in hours.

First time I have noticed this on BGA after thousands of games. I assume it's a website bug of some sort.

Oh, and in my case these were turn-based tables with the issue.

And the same thing happens if I join from the game page too. The initial times were from the Play Now page. I can still join other tables of this game, but those two seem to have a force field around them. No visible restriction set on them either. No clue.

Maybe you haven't showered for a while...



Seriously though, my guess would be that the person is waiting for somebody in particular but hasn't worked out how to restrict the table access to their friends, or something like that.

The same has probably occurred for you, lefalaf and this 'invisible wall' of which you speak could perhaps be that the player has given you a red thumb, purely because they don't want you to try to join again (and, again, they're too daft to just change the table settings instead).

That's my guess, anyway.

Those theories were what I suspected, until seeing that the hosts weren't even online at the time, and that it happened almost instantly. Pretty sure, it's the website doing it. Also if a red thumb in either direction, then I shouldn't even see the tables.

The two affected tables are still there with zero joiners, and (re)creation timestamps newer than the last time I tried to join them, so apparently others tried and failed as well.

Oh well. I've since played a full game of it and joined others.

I see some recent chat in the General Messages indicating a similar sporadic problem across various games.

I keep on having the same problem here.
I join a game and the table vanishes, same player and same game are now on a diffrent table.

Same problem, most of the time for real time 2 payer tables.

I am very glad I found this thread, I was starting to get a complex. Yes, the same thing is happening to me -- in even a two player game I will join an open table (Manual play selection mode) and then immediately get bounced to my own table. It's happening on many different games, since about April 16th for me. Thank you for the bug link, I will vote.
