Question for turn-based players and their data usage

Post by Trimpster »

Say, someone has like 40 turn-based games ongoing, and switches from one to the other, loading all the assets on each switch.

Is that not a great idea to do on mobile data? Because according to my ISP, I ended up using like 3 GBs worth on that in one morning, which seems to be wildly inaccurate, but there might be some truth to it...

There was surely something else contributing to that 3GB, because that seems incredibly high, even for loading as many as forty games... in any case, I feel this is exactly why there should be a proper, installable programme which needs only load the assets once and then can store them on your device locally (which admittedly would probably require a fair amount of space, depending on how many different games you play) and the only data transmission required between the device and the BGA servers would be game state data – absolutely minimal data transfer. To what extent this could occur already with caching, I really don't know.

everything you said and asked is SOOO above my head lol, so forgive me if this does ZERO for the question you're asking, but... i have anywhere from 40 to 100 turn based games going on at a time (large variety of games) that i play on both my computer and phone, and have never had any issues. of course, welcome to info if it seems that i would eventually have issues?
