Secondary Entrance

Post by RiZeN_LinK »

What happens if I play "Secondary Entrance" on bga, before the construction action, at the start of a game?

The game then forces us to play our first building on “Secondary Entrance”, removing the main effect of this “patron” card.

Is this correct or is it a bug?

If this is correct, where is this drastically important subtlety written?
There are exceptions to the rules, stipulated directly on most "patron" cards, in this case, why does this subtlety not appear in the text of the "Secondary Entrance" card?
This will prevent you from missing your turn.

Otherwise, if we assume that it is a bug, it is normal that nothing is stipulated on the card.

Conclusion :

Is it real, is it a bug and why isn't this written anywhere?

Thank you

Yes, this is how Side Entrance works. The player should always build the side entrance of a zoo AFTER the main entrance, or people will assume the side entrance is the main thing. :D

Thanks for sharing, I see a lot of people have been affected by this issue.
Why not stipulate this capital importance on the map? Rather than letting the player be surprised/taken in..

In addition, the logic of the second entry or the first entry does not take into account their construction order. You can very well build your complex, in real life, by starting with the third, fourth, first entrance. The name will come later, of your choice.

The subtlety that you're looking for is in the rules section of the Build action.

I actually went to see this section before creating this post. It turns out that this subtlety is not specified..
In fact, it's even quite vague and the rule almost contradicts itself with the first sentence of the "secondary entrance" card.

it had to be written on the card "if this building is the first to play, then the second building must be played against this one and so on" but it is written "from now on, you can also build buildings etc.."

It says first "the usual construction rules apply" which are roughly:
your first building is on the border. Very good if we follow this rule, then this case is correct, and terribly vague with regard to this game card.
But, it is also written on this same game card, just after "from now on, you can also build buildings adjacent to "secondary entrance" which means that it is not obligatory.

There is then a conflict of rules in the writing of the rules and the card

No, there is no conflict at all. The rules for the Build action say that anything you build has to be on the edge of your zoo if it is the first building or otherwise touching another building in your zoo. The placement aspect of the Side Entrance card simply states that it need not be adjacent to other buildings. Once it's placed, all build rules still apply in the future. Nothing is contradictory.

The placement aspect of this card is not just limited to this first sentence but to the other lines I cited in the previous post which state that "from now on you can ALSO build buildings adjacent to "secondary entrance"

Conflict with the priority rule.
It should therefore be written "unless it is the first building" at the end of the sentence.

The term “also” means that it is not obligatory

No conflict there. "Also" here simply means that new buildings can be adjacent to the Side Entrance building or to other existing buildings in your zoo. If you play the Side Entrance card before you build, there are no other buildings in your zoo, and therefore all subsequent building would have to be adjacent to the Side Entrance.
Leading to: don't play the Side Entrance before building. I can recall at least two bug reports that I have previously closed with people incorrectly reporting this as a bug.
