One thing I have consistantly noted is that when looking for games to play, one of my most important criteria I look for is "Interaction". And it appears that most games have an interaction level of 1. As two of my friends pointed out, Space Base is basically solitaire, you play against other players but you really can't do anything to stop them except with the "Gordon" card, which can be removed. I have noticed this with the majority of the new games coming out to be played. And evidently, Interaction or Conflict is frowned upon by many, which is really sad because the interaction of gaming with twists and turns can teach a lot about being adaptable. Catan is the other side with an interaction of 4. Is there any way games could be searched by the strategy/complexity/interaction/skill factors rather than the broad game types.
Could you add the criteria for game parameters of Friendly Robber to Catan.
Could you also expand it to the 5/6 player expansion?
Also I don't know if it is by design, and it is most apparent to me in Catan, which my group and I play almost everynight we play, is that the dice rolling is becoming more and more engineered. It seems in almost all games that 2 or 3 numbers get the vast majority of rolls and the players on those numbers will almost always win. We have also seen multiple times where the same number rolls multiple times in a row, 3 or more rolls of one number seem to be the norm. Or an alternating set. Multiple times we have multiple complete turns where 7's were rolled over and over. I have gotten to the point I just can't mad about 7/8 rolls being 7's anymore.
Also if you could look at GMT's Formula Motor Racing, Simple Game that is totally interaction and plays 6. This is the other point, I have gotten all the gamers I used to play with to join so that even as we have moved we can still play and interact, but the fact that so many games with real interaction are limited to 4 players is a real handicap.
