Why Defaulting to Friendly Mode?

Games I start all default to friendly mode. Anyone know what I changed? I select Normal mode and next time I'm back to friendly. How do I change this default? Thanks.

If you're trying to play Terraforming Mars with the Prelude expansion, that's why - Prelude is still in Beta, and until it's officially released, can only be played in Friendly mode.

Likewise for any other Alpha or Beta stage games - they can't be played for rank.

That's true of Alpha, but not Beta. Beta can be played competitively, but it will warn you there's potential bugs and therefore you may lose ELO if a game ends up in a broken state (that said, I've never had that happen to me, it's just a warning that it could). Prelude is still certainly in Alpha stage though.
