PSA: You can temporarily 'lock' your doubling cube to speed up games.

Post by Tuut Tuut tis Luut »

Hi all, I only just found this out. And only because I misclicked, never would have known about this feature otherwise. So I figured others might like to know.

If you click on the doubling cube (the actual cube itself, not the double button). It goes grey with a lock icon on it.

This stops the game from giving you the option to double, until you turn it back on yourself.

That means, when it's your turn, it automatically rolls your dice instead of having to press the roll button first.

So when you're far enough behind you already know you won't be doubling anytime soon, you can speed up the gameplay a bit.

Especially great for turn based games. It can be quite frustrating if either player has pawns on the bar or is blocked out completely, but still spending half a day for each turn just to find out they rolled duds and can't even make a move.

Figured a lot of you would like to be aware, especially considering all the complaints I'm seeing on this page recently about the new interface slowing the game too much.
