Can someone explain how the tournaments work? Is there a set time when you have to join, how long do they go for etc? I've been invited to join one but hesitate to sign up and find out that I can't commit to what's required. Thanks for your help.

Every tournament has its own rules/settings created by the person who created the tournament. You'll have to look at each specific tournament for structure and time limitations.

If you have questions about it after that (about what the settings mean), might be best to ask in the tournament forum, as the people who frequent there are more likely to be able to answer those kinds of questions.

What the guy above said. But also, some tournaments ask for an specific elo (You can check yours on your profile and the game you want to know your elo) and mostly they ask for the "reputation" i think is the name of ir (which is your conduct in games if you hace recently abandon games you may have it low). Those are the basics things they ask but there are more. And I mentioned these 2 since this May have been one of the reasons you couldn't sign in. Hope I help
