Hypocrisy of the situation - kingmaking, cheating

Post by Skullek »

In terms of words and phrases you treat us like 5 year olds. 'Because you want it to be a nice place' which is ridiculous. Because you don't want to deal with what's really ruining this game. That is: cheaters, people playing together, kingmakers and those who conspire to destroy one person.

I have to waste 45-55 minutes of my time so that some... (bad word I can't say it cause I'll get warn [scary]) have fun at my expense or for someone to boost their elo at my expense.
I can't count how many times this has happened. And you can't even report kingmaking, you only get a message about a red thumb which is ridiculous. And say one bad word about this situation and you'll get warn. And even if you catch them and warn the other players, they are capable of dragging out each of their turns as long as possible, just to make life miserable in every way possible.

Are you ever going to address this issue? I also want to know what other players and moderators think about this.
That's the only reason why I'm not buying premium. And as far as I know I'm not the only one

I checked your profile, saw your most recent claim, and they have 200 and 180 elo.

It just look like they play together, not that they cheat.

And even if they do, what do you propose for those case? You shouldn't/can't ban for specific situations because many players want to play with a friend and knowing if they help each other slightly or not is impossible.

And where did you get the idea that I'm talking about my games from today? I'm talking about games from the last two months. It's piled up and I'm tired of it, frustrated even. So don't belittle my problem by checking out a few recent games...

I wanted to point that many/some of your claims just look completely wrong.
I know from others posts that it's a recuring problem in Catan.

But again, it's a very hard problem to resolve, especially on a website with that many games.

So no answer from administration? At least tell me how can I report disgusting cases of helping each other in all possible games? Because it's not possible from reporting menu because for every kingmaking case you suggest red thumb... What a nightmare.
I have the exact numbers of moves written down etc... I watched tons of replays and did your job.

I collected 9 kingmaking duos. 8 of them are still playing together and destroying that site.
I don't want to support it anymore. I'd rather delete my acc. So bye bitches ;)

I used to get accused of kingmaking all the time in Catan, usually because somebody thought i was unfair to get the robber twice in a row. It doesn't happen as much now because I thumbed them all down. When someone is rude, I thumb them down. If you think everyone is out to get you, maybe thumb them down and you'll only get people who play friendly robber or whatever. I'm always very skeptical when people come on the forum to vent about kingmakers, because the number of times I've been accused when someone gets mad that they're losing their lead is ridiculous and always untrue.

No, because this is a user-to-user forum. If you want to reach someone else, use the (bug- or user-) report system, or the "Contact us / Support" link.

There are many innocent reasons why several people may conspire against you. For example,

1. you are ahead in the game, so naturally they want to stop you from winning.

2. they want access to some resources close to you, so they try to block you from reaching those resources.

3. they want to punish your rude behavior in the chat (whether insulting others or being a crybaby)

4. they want to punish your ultra-aggressive strategies

They may also just try to be nice to each other. For example, they want to:

1. reward a good trade relationship

2. reward helpfulness or politeness in the chat

3. reward friendly strategies

They may also just have common interests. For example,

1. they build their settlements around the same resources, so it doesn't make sense for them to block each other (and by doing so, themselves).

2. they need access to each other's resources, so they try to maintain a friendly relationship as much as possible

I'm sure there are many more reasons.

Sometimes you lose because you were unlucky. Sometimes you lose because you're a lousy player. It's not always "cheating" and "kingmaking".
