Your hottest tips on how to play SMLB

Hi Fellow Experienced Players,

I’m curious to learn what your tips are? What should be the criteria for choosing the box, apart from obvious „I’m missing the 1-2-3 combination now”? Is it better to collect moons, or stars, or additional numbers, or joker numbers, or lightning bolts? Is it more important to finish as many boxes as possible (then going rather into numbers and joker numbers bonuses), or stars?

My strategy so far is to finish 3 stars in one round, even if the first one is just to prep the collection of 3 stars in the following round, as this scores 9 points. Also, number/joker number bonuses are better imho than lightning bolts, because they provide you with an extra number crossed out. And I do not seem to care about moons, it’s altogether only 6 points at the end, and stars or completed boxes earn you more. What do you think about my tactics? Just wanted to highlight I’m a novice to the game, trying to understand the most effective strategy, so feel free to comment and dismiss my suggestions

My personal view: timing it so that you get two or three stars in a round is what will take you to higher scores.
I've also experienced that moons can make or break an ending score.
It is really frustrating when the +6 or -6 lets someone squeak by me to win by one or two points.
So I try to balance stars and moons.

I agree that the ? is one of the things I look at when choosing a box.
I wish I was better at choosing boxes!
