Cities and Knights bug made me quit playing this mode. [Issue resolved]

This player and I have been going after each other for the entire game in true Catan warfare which for the record I wasn't the one who initiated it.

However, during the last moves of this replay above I managed to reach 13 pts, but the game failed to recognize it continuing the round table. When it reached my opponent who reached 13 pts during his/her/its turn the game recognized it and had given the victory to mine opponent. Unsurprisingly, my opponent who reached 13 pts after I did ended up rubbing it in my face afterwards.

Could someone explain to me why my 13 pts I reached first was illegitimate when the other players' 13 pts which was obtained afterwards was somehow recognized by the game? Is this a bug that needs fixing? Perhaps since I'm not paying premium BGA is letting this happen to plebs like me since I am having a bad experience with this website so far.

Edit: Issue is resolved; I am putting my tin foiled hat away.

LegoBatman, you are missing a rule. In order to win a game of Catan C&K, you have to get to 13 or more victory points ON YOUR OWN TURN. In the game you quoted, you got to 13 VP on turn 465 of the game which was Xanas turn and not yours (you got your 13th VP as Defender of Catan outside your turn). Thus the game continued. Unfortunately for you, blue got his 13 VP on his own turn before you could claim your win in your turn. Thus, everything is correct in your game - no bug but just a rule-misunderstanding.

Please not that this rule also exists in the base game of Catan, it is not a new rule for the C&K expansion: In the base game you win the game if you have 10 or more VP ON YOUR OWN TURN. If it is not your turn that you get to 10 VP, you cannot claim the win and if another player gets to 10 VP before you (or if they take VPs away from you before it is your turn again) then you might lose the game even after reaching 10 or more VP. Sometimes a player wins with 10 VP, while another player has reached 11 VP before (but not on his own turn).

Side remark: At turn 426, i.e. one round earlier, when you built a settlement and got to 12 VP you still had 5 clay, 3 sheep, 1 ore, 2 cloth, 2 coin in your hand. Since you had a sheep harbor, could trade clay 4:1, trade cloth 2:1, trade coin 2:1, you could have built a city and secured the 13th VP in your own turn. You missed that and built a knight instead - and lost fair and straight. It was indeed an exciting finish since all three of you were so close to winning...

P.S.: If the winning player was taunting you in chat you can report him to the moderators (usually there will be a punishment if a player misbehaves after winning or losing) or you can simply give him a red thumb. You can choose...

Thank you for this. It's on me then for not understanding all of the rules.

You are welcome. You are not the only one that does not know the rule - it comes up every now and then in the forum. Thus it is good that this thread exists and other players will hear from this rule.

The rule is less well-known because in 99+ percent of all cases you get your VPs (and especially the "winning" 10th / 13th one) on your own turn, anyway. It is very rare that you get your "winning" VP outside of your turn AND another player gets to his winning VP before you. But it happens now and then...
