"New" prelude start of game message - a step backwards or worse?

Post by Yahyra »

Hi community,

As many (most? :) ) I prefer playing T Mars with Prelude expansion enabled (I'm not premium so other people have to host).

I have in the past kept a prelude(s), corp and starting hand set that the game, wisely and thankfully, let me know I could not keep / afford. Basically I kept too many project cards which is fine and dandy.

Today I was playing a prelude game and instead of the game giving me that reliable message (and accompanying "cancel' or go back to pick less cards to keep), instead it had a pop up message to the effect of " Confirm you may be unable to play some or all of your Prelude cards".

There's already posts on here advocating for more time to select your corp, preludes and starting hand. This confusing pop up message is (of course, in my opinion) much worse than the previous implementation (which, again just flat out told you "invalid setup, your starting corporation cannot afford these project cards and preludes".

I recently read (on another game forum, maybe it was Ticket to ride?) that some (all?) of bga developers work for "premium" access (or such) instead of, you know, a real salary or money as a normal developer would. I appreciate your work, developers; but this implementation (again to me), is a huge step back.

Best wishes.
