A Gest of Robin Hood is now in BETA!

Post by Thalack »

A Gest of Robin Hood is the second game in the Irregular Conflicts Series, further adapting the COIN system to depict peasant revolts, feudal tax collection, and outlaw activities in late 12th century medieval England. Transposing one of GMT’s most popular systems into a simpler format and a more approachable setting makes A Gest of Robin Hood perfect for newcomers to wargaming. At the same time, it also offers a tight challenge for more experienced wargamers who can enjoy a tense asymmetric duel in under an hour.

Special thanks to GMT Games, Fred and Joe for their help bringing this to BGA!

Super implementation, thx!!! Is it possible to add some place to write notes? This could be very helpful when playing more games at once...

Isn't there a "notes" icon in the upper right? Looks like a sheet of paper and a pencil. All games have it, unless there's something about Beta games that differs.

It's for turn-based mode only. Real-time tables don't have it.

Ah, I never realized that. I doubt this is something the individual game designers can control.

Thanks a lot for developing this game, I really enjoy it!! Any chance you will now also think about developing a COIN game (e.g., Cuba Libre or Fire in the Lake?)

I would like to do another one at some point as they seem pretty suitable for online play, though don't expect anything soon.

Thanks for your answer, indeed it seems to work quite well online. Although I can imagine that the COIN series will be at another complexity/implementation level. Do you have to start from scratch for every game, or is it possible to re-use what was done if it is +/- the same base (e.g., re-using A Gest of RH to develop a COIN)?

A big part of the setup can probably be reused and some game specific things from Gest. I could probably create a much more generic setup for COIN games with the experience from Gest as well.
