conceeding

hi all, i’m a little confused. maybe someone can help. when a game is conceded does it depend on your opponent to agree? ty all.

You can only concede in a 2-player game, and only when the game is at least 50% complete.

If you're trying to collectively abandon a game, all players must agree. In that case, the game ends as a draw for everyone (it's available with any number of players).

If you concede in a 2-player game, your opponent does not have to agree. They simply win immediately.

ty for helping. i just played a game where my opponent conceded and a dialog box popped up asking if i agree. so now i know. plus the information y’all gave me. thank you. i lost 20 karma not knowing.

You lost 20 karma because you went over time in a game, and someone booted you for doing so. Not for the games where you conceded (of which there seem to be several).

I'm not sure why there would be a dialog for you, unless the other player offered you the opportunity to concede? Is that something that's possible on BGA (or within backgammon)? I don't play much backgammon (possibly never on BGA) so I don't know. But you don't lose karma by conceding, you just lose the game.

I don't think an abandoned game counts as a draw, at least not the last time I saw it. It will just be cancelled, with no ELO change for any player (whereas a draw will cause ELO change), and won't count as a victory for anyone.

Some games may have a specific action for conceding, which is probably usable before 50% and may require the opponent to agree. An example is backgammon.

I only play 2 games on BGA.

Catan: no way to concede

Yahtzee: concede available (opponent does not have to agree)

Because Catan cannot be played with 2 players, and concede is only available with 2 players.

Play yahtzee with more than 2 players and you won't be able to concede either.
