Unplayable tiles

Hi,
I noticed that in the cases in which a tile cannot be played (classic example: 4 sides city can´t be placed, because there are no playable city tiles available) that tile does not go back to the stack, but it gets scrapped from the game... I see an issue there, because only the player that saw that tile knows it is not available, the other could build his strategy in the expectation of getting it before or later.
Is that an official rule? Wouldn´t it be best if the tile just went back to the stack?

The official rule is to discard the tile. It will not be reshuffled.
The player that drew such an impossible tile will draw again - he does not lose his move.
Here on BGA the notification of this situation is badly programmed. Thus one may miss it, especially on turn-based games.

The rule is to discard the tile, but the key issue the OP raised is that the identity of the tile discarded should not be hidden information. Obviously in a live game you would show the other players the tile. Is the discarded tile identified in the game log when this happens and the OP just missed it?

I answered the main question of the OP regarding the rule.
The discarded tile is clearly mentioned in the game log but badly shown during the game. Thus it is very easy to miss it during the game (especially in turn based games). In Carcassonne you usually dont care about the game log.

This was not a minor point:
