"All Games" link at the top doesn't really show all games.

Post by ODog502 »

It has always bugged me that the "all games" link in the top banner of the home screen doesn't actually show you all games when you click it. It shows you only a few games based on a select group of lists: "popular now", "latest games", "short games", etc.

In order to actually see ALL games, I have to click "All Games" at the top banner, scroll ALL the way down to the list at the bottom called "All Games", then click the tiny link in the bottom right corner, "view more". That's quite a convoluted way to show a new user everything you have to offer.

Any new or unfamiliar user to the site would think that your entire collection is limited to the few curated lists you have at the current "all games" link. You're really doing yourself a disservice by making it so hard for a new user to see that you actually have hundreds of games available to play.

To put my suggestion into a single sentence: Change the "All Games" link in the banner at the top of the page to point to this instead:

Today I had to show another person how to find a list of all the games on BGA and it reminded me of this suggestion from several months ago.

It really is a simple fix, just change one hyperlink. The page (and URL) for the list of "all games" already exists. The "All Games" link just needs to point to it.

I'm wondering if the devs did this on purpose to manage server load. Maybe providing a list of all games would affect the servers too much if everyone was hitting it. So they make it somewhat more hidden. Still I feel like there's better ways to manage this than just hiding the link. For example, when loading the all games list, loading the top 100 then not loading more results until the user scrolls all the way to the bottom of the list. That would be a better way to throttle server load.
