Is there a agreement on not guessing known cards?

Post by davypi »

I've played this game with a live group with voice chat and one of the things that we've discussed is that getting too many correct guesses too fast can actually be a problem. Once your score breaks ten, the queen moves twice as fast, and her catch up speed progresses from there. So sometimes even if we can guess two cards per round, sometimes we won't. Not only does this keep the queen slow, but if a player can't make a good tile placement, this gives us a guaranteed guess "in the bank" we can use to avoid a failed guess. However, in a turn based game with strangers, somebody dropped a comment in the table chat implying that another player should have used guesses. Since there is no time stamp, I'm honestly not sure if this was directed at me or somebody else. But even then I have noticed in other games that other players want to knock out every card they can every turn. So, assuming that you could correctly guess two cards in a round, has anyone actually mathed out the gain vs losses of taking both guesses versus leaving one on the table?

I'm pretty new to the game, so don't expect any deep insights from me. :-)

I have never triggered a 2nd guess for the reasons you gave. But I have seen some of my partners do it. There might be good reasons later in the game, but early, I have severe doubts.
