malus points by increasing temperature

Hi,
in the second or third round i will increase the temperature by using the normal ability. Itˋs a two person game. I received 4 malus points, my opponent 5 bonus points. Can someone explane it?

Thermalist was funded.
And if you weren't aware that Thermalist was funded I'm giessing the opponent was on Vitor

The thermalist was not funded. I used my own 8 points. After this action my thermlist has a rest of one, the opponent 4. Is it perhaps a bug? I played it sometimes at the table. We know no special rules. Otherwise it would be very tough, because so many points for a normal action in the game???

How did you find the game? I looked in his games history and he's only got four games of TfM, none of which have that game number.
