[OPINION] Games with Solo modes should not be entirely paywalled by Premium.

Post by TheRaven81 »

The only thing that should be Premium with these games is the ability to play with others. And I am not talking about any modes that were implemented in by adding an AI player. I'm talking you either play alone, 1 player, or you play with other people, 2+ players. If you want to play alone then Premium should not be required.

"But Raven, you're still taking up server space if you play alone. You have to pay for that."

That's another thing that is a problem. You playing alone should not be occupying the server. The server should be used for matching multiplayer games. That's it. I don't pay for Premium because I don't have any interest in playing with others. And the small library of Solo games on here is not worth the price of Premium to me.

It's not BGA that decides games to be premium, it's the publishers.

Games require the server whether they are solo or multiplayer.

Why do you think playing with others is the only reason a game should be premium?

This belies a misunderstanding of how the games are technically implemented. They all require the server based on how they're programmed. You're describing something totally different that you could download to your computer (either as a file or on the browser) to be played locally. That would be cool! I would also require every game to be reimplemented and programmed twice: once for multiplayer and again completely for solo players.

Ultimately, there's no incentive for anyone to do this.
1) The programmers don't want to reprogram every game twice
2) The publishers don't want to give away free apps for their games that could be downloaded and kept forever for free
3) BGA needs to get paid for the service it operates, even if that service were just offering the downloads for you
4) Many publishers want to be paid for allowing the use of their games (publishers choose whether each game is premium)
