Is it possible to have multiple BGA accounts within the same household?

Post by LTP56 »

I am sure this question has been asked before, but I was not able to find an answer. Anyway, I love BGA and so does another family member, we are unable to play two different games at once with my premium account. So I thought... why not just create a second account so we both could play at the same time, but at different games and tables.

I tried to create a second account, but I have yet to receive a confirmation e-mail from BGA. I looked further by Googling whether multiple accounts on BGA are within its guidelines, and the answer appears to be no? I understand the likelihood of abuse and/or cheating with multiple accounts, but I would never cheat anyways, I just would like to play two different games at the same time.

Anyone know BGA's rules regarding multiple premium accounts, or whether that is even possible? Thanks

If you're trying to have a second account with the same email, I'm not sure that would be possible. Multiple accounts for the same person aren't strictly allowed (though there are exceptions), but plenty of people within households have their own account (myself and my partner for one). So long as you're not using one account to boost the ranking/ELO of the other or other forms of cheating the system, you should be fine.

Thanks for the reply. I am still waiting on an e-mail confirmation however, as you can't create a second account without an e-mail confirmation. I have selected to resend the e-mail a dozen times, still no e-mail. Checked my Spam in-box to make sure it wasn't sent there, but it just hasn't been sent. I can't help but think this is way more difficult than it has to be, but BGA is master, so I will wait and see.

But with a different email to your first account? I mean, really, the second person is setting up their account, not you setting up a second account, even if you're actually doing the setup in the case of say, a child - my kids have essentially dummy gmail accounts (that I manage) for this kind of purpose, though they're both a bit young for BGA yet. So I guess I just want to confirm that you're setting up an account as a second person, not trying to have two accounts on one email (which I don't think is possible).

OP has premium:

Additionally, the "two different games" would suggest they know about and have tried hotseat, but as they say, they can't play different games at the same time. Not to mention, even if you were sharing an account, I feel like that would be weird. I play lots of games my partner doesn't, and he plays a few I don't. Having both of our games on one account, even if they were turn-based... would I skip over "his" games and just play my turns? Separate players need separate accounts (this doesn't even address the fact that hotseat mode also doesn't allow us to play asynchronously with our RL friends, which we spend a lot of time doing on here). Hotseat is probably great for someone looking to pass time, but if a person wants to play on their own and explore new games on BGA, they need their own account. Living with someone else who already has an account shouldn't preclude you from that.

A basic question, but you’ve checked your junk/spam folder?

I have created a second and third account to simulate gameplay for tutorials. I've read somewhere that this is a common practice and allowed.

If you do not have premium it will not allow you to play with various accounts from the same place at the same time.

It is possible, as we have 2 BGA accounts in my household.
I know a number of friends with multiple BGA accounts in the same household as well.

In our case (and I believe in my friends' cases), we use different email addresses for each BGA account.
It was unclear from your original post if you are attempting to create the second BGA account using the same email address that is linked to your first BGA account. Perhaps that is what is causing the difficulty if so.

You may not even need to create additional email addresses. If you use an email provider like GMail of Yahoo, you probably have the ability to use additional addresses as an alias for the same inbox:
