I am part of a group, but I frequently miss the communication posted in the group, because I don't get any notification. Could this be added as a profile-setting (get emails once a day or so and/or notifications when somebody post something in a group where you are member of)?

There is an entire sub-forum for suggestions for site-wide changes called....
Suggestions (it's in the Game Platform grouping of sub-forums). But don't just go copy your post there instead.
My advice is to:
1) Search for an active report for this idea in the Bugs and Suggestions database (accessed by clicking the "Community" link, then the "Report a bug, or make a suggestion" link). If one exists, post a link to it
in the Suggestions sub-forum so that it is easy to find and upvote.
2) If no active report exists, create one, then post a link to it
in the Suggestions sub-forum so that it is easy to find and upvote.
This is how suggestions actually get in the system, not merely musing about it on the forum. That doesn't mean it will be acted on soon or ever (the dark mode request has almost 900 votes and is over four years old), but it's the first step.
