Why do I get paired with players with low elo in arena?

Post by Obnoxious_Ostrich »

I often get paired with players with 100 elo or just above, who is clearly quite new to the game. I have put the settings for arena for good players only, is this setting ignored in arena or?

Most of these games ends up being unenjoyable for all in the game.

Because Arena matchmaking is completely independent from elo (except that you need a minimum of 100 to be able to play Arena at all). Any "level" restriction in Arena is in reference to Arena leagues, not to elo.

Isn't arena based on your rank? So you'll have to grind to a higher rank to play against better players. Higher rank doesn't necessarily mean you'll face the best but they'd need to be experienced to get there and the percentage of better players would then be higher.

I think it would be good to change the min ELO for Arena to 200. Anyone who plays enough games can always get to 100 ELO, but no player can ever go below that, so you end up with a lot of bad players in Arena. A min 200 would make sure they are all pretty good. Of course, someone could get to 200, start a turn-based game, and fall back below before it ends, but at least they showed they understand the game.

There's no way you can get to 100 without understanding the game. Even if you can't lose those first 100 points, you equally can't get them without winning a couple of times. Trying to get there on the dribble of points for 2nd place would take forever.
