Option for 45, 60, 90 day Tournament Rounds

Post by RazorOz »

I have put up a suggestion for there to be an option for tournament rounds to be set to 45, 60, 90 days rather than the current maximum of 30 days.

This relatively simple change would greatly improve tournaments by allowing more games to finish.

It also fixes the issue that 30 days simply isn't long enough to complete a tournament round at certain games. As mentioned in the suggestion, you cannot complete a Heat: Pedal to the Metal Championship mode tournament currently, as it's simply too ambitious for rounds to finish in 30 days when a single race will take 14-21 days (and a Championship is 3-4 races), and I'm sure there's other games this applies to, with eg. Twilight Imperium on the horizon.

Only the top one is similar (but it should be a general proposal as opposed to one in the Nippon section), but I think more options are needed than that, as flexibility is good.

Two of the others are talking about adding x time per turn and it working like regular turn based games, which is similar, but is different, as it doesn't give a definitive end time to a tournament round, which then makes the length unpredictable. The other wants more options between 15-30 days which is a different issue.

Hopefully this will bring more traction to the proposal than previously, as it's a relatively simple change that would make quite a big difference. Contrary to what gets said often that nothing ever happens, changes are never implemented, recently a big change has been made that will have a significant impact on tournaments that likely isn't widely known yet. That being it is being trialled for games to complete even after someone leaves the game, you can read about it on the Heat: Pedal to the Metal wall, this is a game changer in tournaments, because now say you are playing a 6 player game with the top 3 qualifying, previously if someone was booted/quit who would qualify would be random, but now the game completes to a result and the top 3 qualify. It's a change that obviously has significant implications for tournaments, and it shows that feedback does get listened to.
