Tutorial

Post by Clareybear »

Has anyone else found the tutorial breaks? I was thinking it was a great tutorial and explaining well, but then I tried it twice and got stuck at two different points. Maybe I misclicked but it wouldn't let me complete the indicated move and the dotted lines indicator lines disappeared from the board. :(

You can make the indicators reappear by clicking the rectangle recapping your moves this turn, above your player card.

If you have issues with a tutorial, please contact the author. You can find their name at the beginning of the tutorial, Nekonyancer in this case.

This was helpful to resolve the couple times the tutorial stalled on me, thanks!

Hi! There are a couple actions in this tutorial that require multiple inputs from the user. Those actions are split into multiple steps. Something like, "Click here. Then continue."

If the user does not click as directed and skips ahead to the next box, the indicators will not appear. This is because the indicators are attached to objects that only become interactable if the user performs the first input.

Sounds kinda dumb, right? But this was the best way I found to make it work. The alternative is to simply remove user interactivity from the tutorial and have them click on the Continue button for every step. I do that sometimes, depending on the complexity of the actions required, but I think it makes the tutorial less effective at teaching the game.

In this case, the Darwin's Journey tutorial completion rate is 31.2%, meaning 31.2% of people who view the tutorial make it to the end. That's pretty high, especially for a tutorial with 125 steps, so I don't think it requires the aforementioned change.

Thanks anyway! :)
