Locked Out of Game Due to Bug - Will I Time Out?

Hello,

However, since this is ongoing in a turn-based game, eventually, I will run out of time, because I can't take a game action.

What should I do in this situation?

You can propose to abandon - if your opponent is willing, neither of you will get a penalty. Otherwise you will time out, but will only be ejected if your opponent does so, or if you choose to quit yourself - in either of those cases, you will receive a penalty.

That said, penalties aren't a huge deal - your first penalty is 10 points, and doesn't restrict your activity in any way, and if you are playing and finishing games without time penalties, you'll regain a point for each one, meaning you'll likely be back at 100 quite soon if you're a regular player. Quit penalties do increase if you accrue multiple in a short time, but they happen from time to time and are generally not worth worrying too much about if you're only getting one every so often (yes, I get it, they don't feel nice, but they're pretty leniently treated if they're truly occasional).

The issue is that I can't get in the game to abandon. I'll check with my opponent if he's locked out, but for the sake of argument, let's say that he is. This game will never end because my opponent can't kick me, and I can't leave.

Games are automatically abandoned after some period of inactivity by all players: hour(s) for real-time, weeks for turn-based.

Ah, thank you for that. One other discovery I made. It works fine as a spectator, but as soon as I log into my account, it gets stuck in the same place. I wonder if this is a bigger issue that comes up with a particular interface.

Ah, see I didn't realise you couldn't get in, because I can get in (as a spectator). There's probably some extra elements being loaded for the players (around buttons to make your moves, etc.) that might be causing the issue.

You (or your opponent) can quit the game from the table page (https://boardgamearena.com/table?table= ... 56&nr=true), but as mentioned, this will give the quitting player a penalty. I think the abandon time is 40 days without any moves, so if you just leave it, it will drop off as Jellby mentions, but it'll take a good while.
