We Miss the BGA Homepage

Post by ojomojojojojo »

When I use to log on to BGA it felt like a boardgame social network. I could immerse myself in the boardgame world just like I would on Instagram, or Twitter on Facebook. I would log on and see on my newsfeed "This your friend won the tournament". "This player won 7 Wonders for the first time" or the group you belong to made a new post. It was exciting to come on and have that communal feel. Now BGA has really lost that touch. You would even see some people posting on the general chat to really know whats going on on BGA or calling for more players for a certain game. That's what I loved about this site--the communal feel of playing boardgames.

If I wanted to just strictly play boardgames, there are hundreds of other sites for that. BGA offered something special-- like facebook or Instagram in the boardgame world. I'm writing to suggest to come back to that. Bring the homepage back with all the fun details. Now the homepage is just a bunch of promos. I know you can go to your profile and see that but absolutely no one does that. I even made a post from this group page I'm in and no one even saw it.

I feel the same way, and I suspect many others do -- more than 2000 players currently use the fanmade browser extension which allows customizing the home page: https://boardgamearena.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=30509

I have it set so that most of the home page is the news feed, since that is what I also care about.
