Time Management - Minus Area

Post by Stelio_Kontos »

Hello,

I am trying to organize a tournament for a group of friends. My question is about the time rules. If I set 1 hour time, then both have 30 minutes + a minus time account. I would like to know after how many minutes in minus a player is automatically kicked. Is it the same number as the minutes in plus?

Many thanks in advance.

Your question isn't very clear, but if I understand it correctly, hopefully this will help:

Tournament games tick-down like a chess-clock. On your turn, thinking-time is deducted until your move is finished, and time is never replenished. If you set a game time of 1-hour, then the game has 1 hour to be completed. In a 2p game, each player has 30 minutes on their clock, but regardless of what happens, the game will end at 1 hour, and if it is unfinished then BGA will give the victory to the player with the most remaining time. If a player goes into red-time, then their opponent will be given the option to 'skip' the player - which ejects that player from the game and gives the other player(s) the victory. No-one is automatically kicked by BGA.

Hi,

thank you for your answer. So there is a total amount of time and it doesn´t matter who uses it. e.g. 2 hours in total and one player uses 1,5h and another one uses 0,5 h. One player will be on -30 minutes and the other one on +30 and the one with the positive amount wins when the 2h mark is passed.

I hope i understood it now. :D

Yes. That's how it works if the person with person with positive time doesn't expel the other player. If these are IRL friends this hopefully won't happen.

But if these are BGA "friends" you don't actually know, be aware that there is currently no option to stop a player from expelling another from a tournament game and the tournament host actually has zero control over the tournament once it starts. For example, you wouldn't be able to penalize the expeller and advance the other player instead.

There is *no* way to enforce the no skip in a tournament but there are some workarounds like having private invite tournaments where a skip gets you kicked out of the group or simply stating the rules in tournament section and shaming players that skip in game comments and/or tournament page.

I think you meant "no way."
