Guild Affiliation on Cypher Wheel

In the rulebook it says about the Cypher Wheel: "The Guild Affiliation for every Card Number is also displayed." But although each card has only one guild, there are two guild icons (sometimes disparate) for each card. Can anyone explain what this means, please?

There are two cards for each number, with the indicated guilds.

There are two cards of each number in the deck.

For numbers 1,2,4,5,7, & 8 there is an assassin (red) and guard (green). For 3,6,9 both cards are sentinel (blue).

So for example with the digital wheel, if you've seen the guard #1 you should mark the #1 as green, and once you've seen the second one you can cross it out completely (black). If you saw the #1 assassin you should mark the #1 as red, and once you've seen the second one you can cross it out completely (black).
