Time Penalty

Post by abstracticon »

Why am I getting time penalties? I'm not so sure how that really works. I finished my games without going over the alloted time but I still got a penalty just like today when I still have over 2 minutes left in the game after winning a game of Hive. Would this significantly affect my account/reputation?

I'm fairly new to the site so i don't know whether i'm correct or not.
However, i think for some games thinking time is boosted a bit each time you get your turn.
This would mean that you can have some negative time at the begin fase of the game but end with a positive time due to quicker actions as the game proceeds. But well i'm not sure this is true.

For the effect on your reputation:
Yes it will effect you when you try to enter games that have a restriction, demanding that players have not gone over the timer a certain amount of time. This is determined by (the total amount of games you went over time / your total amount of games played) *100%.

In your case thats 3/8 -> 37,5%. But fear not. These negative effects "only" last for 60 days, and 2 of your negative times happend 59 days ago. So tomorrow you'll be on 1/8 -> 12.5% again :D. While playing more games without going overtime will only decrease this percentage and leave you with no worries. That is as long you do not go over the time :D. (you can try setting a longer decision time)

Hope that clarifies things.

greetings,
Sawyer

I just realized that I've been given several time penalties for solo games of Thermopyles and now I cannot join tables with time restrictions. I didn't even realize I was taking so long.
