In a VP-tie in RFTG, player with more cards in hand wins???

That is how it is in the brick'n'mortar version.

I just finished a game [7886714], with 10 cards to my opponent's 9, and both of us at 44 points.
But i didn't get the victory.
I vaguely recall this happening before, both for and against me -- is it perhaps just a coin toss here instead of the proper rule???

According to the rules, on page 7:

If two or more players tie, the player among them with the highest total number of
cards in hand (after discarding) and goods on worlds wins.

Looking at the game, you both end with 44 points. You have 10 cards in your hand, while bessita has 9. However, bessita has 5 production cards (3 brown, 1 blue, 1 green), for a total of 14 cards. You have 3 production cards (3 yellow), for a total of 13 cards.

It looks like the rule is interpreted as total number of cards, not first tie-breaker being cards in hand and second tie-breaker being goods on worlds.

Yes I noticed also that it is implemented this way: the tie breaker is the sum of your cards in hand + the cards (i.e. goods) on your worlds

Ah, yes, that's it.
The tiebreaker is the sum of cards in hand plus leftover goods on tableau.
