Post by ringersoll »

I just received my first Thumbs Down. :(
Is it possible to see who gave it to me?

Impossible, you can't see who gave you it

its anonymous, and timed so that you cannot respond even if you did know who it was. since there is a time after which you cannot change your opinion of a player once you have done so, the game is for them to wait until the last possible hour to give thumbs down, both so that multiple games have occurred and you aren't sure who gave it, and also so that you cannot go back and change a green thumb you gave to them even if you know who it was. just had someone do that to me, then spam my profile gloating about it, and i of course cannot change my opinion of them now.

hey! just learned another way to use the red thumb system! we all have seen or at least suspect that people who are typically bad actors regularly and easily get new accounts periodically, particularly when their ragequit/disconnect or red thumb numbers get high enough they cannot join most games. however, every time they quit and delete the old accounts, all the red thumbs they gave stay with you! ask me how I discovered that one. yet again, poor behaviour is rewarded, and only sportsmanlike actors suffer. why?

I don't like the fact that anyone can give you a Thumbs Down, and we don't even know who or why. It could be for no reason at all.

As has been discussed before, it isn't really "anyone" who can give a thumbs-down. It's "anyone who has given 5 thumbs-ups." While not a perfect system, it does limit the people who give red thumbs just to be mean to others. They have to be nice to 5 others before they can be mean to one.

I currently have six thumbs down. For two of them, I know exactly who did it and why. But I have no idea what happened with the others. I think we should be able to have a down thumb removed from our record for every 50 thumbs up that we have earned, or something like that. I don't think that it is right that a few jerks can ruin someone's reputation.

when you have 400 thumbs up, and 8 thumbs down it doesnt matter if they are visible or not (as I think). I think the number speak for themselves unless you are only willing to play with people who are clear. Then you definitly don't understand how the system works.

And I'm starting to think that short tutorial about site and its rules should be mandatory for new people.

I really don't like the Thumbs Down option at all. I would rather just see total number of opponents VS number of Thumbs Up. Or an overall percentage of people who liked playing with you. I don't think it is beneficial to see how many people specifically disliked you.

I'm pretty sure I just got my only red thumb from an abusive player I reported, who only has the one red thumb from me (no green, has only played four games) and has been made Devilkin for conduct. Is there a way to clear the red thumb, say, if that player ends up getting permanently banned, or is that a permanent stain on my record I just have to deal with?

Nope. Even if they get kicked off, even if their account is entirely deleted, you get to keep the red thumb as the sysadmins special gift to you. Congratulations.
