Can you plaese bring back realtime untimed?

Post by magekirbys »

Not sure this is the right area to discuss this but anyway:

Back before the whole turn based system was introduced we had an option where you could play in real time without any time limits. Can we please bring that feature back?

Most of my friends play this while at work and currently the slowest real time option simply isn't enough. I mean sure when I play it's mostly with them , but I don't like it that their profiles end up getting marked down as players who take too long since this can dissuade other players from playing with them, especially since it's not their fault.

Thanks for your time and I hope this isn't too big of an ask.

Why not just use the turned based? Granted, I'm new and I missed the whole "unlimited real time" thing, so I don't really know how that worked. But your situation is exactly what turn-based works for.

Yesterday I played with a friend live and we used the unlimited turn-based option - partly because we didn't want the time pressure, but also because we wanted to spend time chatting and such. But we still played live and got 3 games in. If you trust these people aren't going to just disappear, this should work. (Oh, and you do still see the other people making their moves.)

The whole point of this is that we don't want to play in turn based mode , else I wouldn't have asked for this old feature to be returned.

I've had the same problem, wanted to try out a new game with some people. As nobody from us knew it it sure takes some more time, so we wanted to do real-time unlimited.

Turn-based wasn't an option for us, either, as some players had already reached their limit of games played in turn-based.

Yeah, it was bad we couldnt choose unlimited.

I take it it won't be such a big problem in some kind of future when we can have an unlimited amount of turnbased games... But as long as we are limited in such a way the real time unlimited option is really missing.

I cannot think of a reason why unlimited time is removed from realtime play. As this mode in my opinion would be the best mode to explain games or explore one together.

Think it would be nice if we at least get an explanation on this issue of why this mode is removed suddenly.

Cheers, and hope it comes back. It was always nice to explain the game and how the boardgame interface for said game worked in a realtime unlimited time game.

I'm just curious as to why not--it's practically the same thing as real-time-unlimited, isn't it?

Not really: if you play with friends and you have not reached the limit, it is the same.
However if you look for a game, and are ready to spend time, e.g. to explain the game to a beginner, but you still do not want to play turn-based because it might last several days then you might never find the table ... except perhaps if the table description says that the "turn-based" mode is in fact a real time one .....
